📝 题目

The charts below give information about the number of train passengers and the percentage of trains running on time from 2000 to 2009 in Japan.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

✍️ 参考范文

The two graphs present data about Japan’s train passengers and the punctuality of its trains between 2000 and 2009.

Overall, the number of train commuters increased slightly after a decade. And though there was a dip in performance midway, Japan’s trains managed to hit their target of running on time by the end of the period.

In the first graph, the number of train passengers was around 36 million in 2000. Despite some fluctuations, the number of commuters generally increased until it hit approximately 46 million in 2005. But from there, the figures dropped, declining to just 41 million in 2009 - although this was still higher than when the period began.

As for train punctuality, in 2000, 92% of Japan's trains were on time, lower than the assumed standard. There was a steady improvement over the following years as train punctuality reached 96% in 2004. However, after 2004, the trains began falling behind, returning to 92% in 2006. But train performance improved once more. By 2009, Japan’s trains were punctual 97% of the time, which was much better than expected.
