Overall, tennis attracts the largest proportion of women to watch whereas horse riding and racing is the least attracting sport to watch and play. Badminton and golf are the only sports which have more players than viewers in this country.
In terms of sports for watching, tennis and basketball are the most popular, with 60% and 55% respectively. There are 20% of women watching gymnastics events whereas badminton and horse riding and racing appeal to less than 10% of female citizens.
Looking at the figures for participating sports, around 50% of women choose to play basketball, which is the highest participation rate among all sports. Interestingly, both golf and tennis attract 30% of women to participate. The level of passion for participation is quite low for badminton and gymnastics. For horse riding and racing, it is the least popular sport for women in this age group.
