Overall, the heritage railway tourist spot was greatly improved to offer visitors more options and ensure people were more secure.
In 2000, the heritage railway featured a wide, open area where visitors could see a historical railway and a scenic view of the river that flowed by. Despite being a popular destination, tourist amenities were minimal. There was only an outdoor toilet for visitors and just one gift shop for souvenirs and possible refreshments.
A decade later, there were many more attractions to make the area more enticing and safer for the public. The heritage railway was the same, but there was now a hotel to cater to tourists who wished to spend the night and a parking area for visitors. There was also a café for refreshments, open to guests of the hotel or just sightseeing for the day. Instead of a gift shop, there was a sculpture, possibly commemorating the history of the area. And there was a guardrail along the river bank to ensure visitors’ safety when viewing, walking or taking pictures by the river.
