Dear Neighborhood Committee,
As a community, we have always worked hand in hand to keep our place safe and clean. However, I have observed that we now have a dog problem, which is why I am writing.
I have noticed some neighbors let their dogs run freely on the streets, usually at night and on the weekends. Although dogs need exercise, allowing them to roam without a leash is very dangerous to passersby, particularly children and the elderly. Without an owner to restrain them, these very dogs might attack if they feel threatened. Furthermore, they are a nuisance because they chew things on other people’s lawns and wantonly relieve themselves wherever they please.
Therefore, I suggest a neighborhood policy disallowing dogs to roam around without strict supervision. Violations will result in a substantial monetary penalty plus the impounding of their dog. We should also ask the help of the city’s dog catchers to patrol our area to ensure our place is always safe. Though it may sound harsh to some, a person’s life has more weight than a dog’s freedom. So we should not take this situation lightly.
