Overall, phone owners in the developing country primarily utilized their devices for communication via calls and texts. However, the given period also saw a significant rise in the usage of phones for other purposes.
For nearly all three years, everyone used their mobile phones to call others, except for 2010 when this dipped slightly to 99%. Texting was consistently the second reason for using their phones, rising from 73% in 2006 to 79% in 2010.
As for the other ways to utilize the phone, picture taking was something many in the given country were interested in. From 66% of phone owners doing so in 2006, the figure grew to 76% in 2010. Surfing the net was not far behind in 2010 at 73%, even if the capability only became possible in 2008. Furthermore, playing games on the phone (41%), making videos (35%), and listening to music (26%) were the other things phone owners did in 2010. These three activities also had marked increases over the years.
