You had a job during the summer vacation, but the payment you received was not right.
Write a letter to the manager. In your letter
1) describe what has happened
2) the work you did and how much you should have earned
3) what solution you want
Dear Mr. Jefferson,
I am Keith Wong, one of your summer employees. I am writing to request for the remainder of my pay.
As directed, I picked up the check from the cashier, Ms. Sally. But instead of reviewing the check, I immediately pocketed it because I was late for an appointment. It was when I got home that I noticed the discrepancy.
I was one of the summer employees hired for the whole two months. However, before the official start of the summer hire program, I was already asked to begin a week earlier because one of your personnel, Ms. Elizabeth, was on maternity leave. So my full pay should be $1350, which is $1200 for two months of work plus an additional $150 for the extra week. But my check in hand is only for $1250.
May I request a new check for the appropriate amount? I have not encashed it yet, so returning it will not be a problem. When the replacement is ready, I will drop by and exchange the current check for the new one. Kindly contact me at mobile number 777-8888-1111 once available or if you have further questions.
Yours truly,
Keith Wong
