Among the nonessential devices in the graph, the spa (roughly 2250 kwh/year or $187) and the pool pump (about 1500 kwh/year or $123) are a luxury to use as their energy consumption is very high. For people willing to spend a bit, but not too much, for something extra at home, an aquarium or terrarium uses around 5500 kwh/year or $46.

For the essential appliances found at home, the majority cost under $83 a year to use. Only the fridge (approximately $92 or 1100 kwh/year) costs more as it consumes much energy. The next expensive appliance to use at home is the washing machine (roughly $79/year) as it needs around 950 kwh of electricity annually. Interestingly, the computer and TV do not utilize much energy, costing a household approximately $44 or 530 kwh/year and $16 or 190 kwh/year, respectively - despite both usually being left on throughout the day.
