In 1990, the options available to the university population were limited to a large park, surrounded by trees, for people to exercise in or just while away the time, and an outdoor swimming pool. Nearby, there was a visitor car park, a small café, and a changing room - presumably for those planning to swim.
However, at present, the sports facilities have been revamped to better serve the university. All the former structures, including the park and surrounding greenery, were demolished to make room for the new and improved amenities. Now, occupying more than half of the area is a large sports complex that contains a gym, an indoor pool, and a much bigger changing room than before. The building also boasts of a café within, adjacent to the receiving area. Furthermore, there is an outdoor basketball court and four tennis courts that university students and personnel can use for recreation.
