📝 题目

The diagram below illustrates how a simple water filter is constructed and how it functions to produce clean drinking water. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.

✍️ 参考范文

The illustration presents how to construct a simple water filter to produce potable water. Overall, this system provides a straightforward method of water purification, relying on natural filtering materials to transform impure water into a safe drinking source. The first step is to gather the materials needed, namely an empty drum, a water storage tank, a length of pipe with a valve, sand, charcoal, and gravel. To build the filter, the drum and storage tank should be arranged so that the former is slightly elevated over the latter, allowing gravity to do its part to transfer water from the drum to the tank. Next, the pipe is inserted in both containers, connecting the drum to the storage tank. Once linked, half the drum is filled with aggregates in the following order: gravel, charcoal, and sand. To create drinking water, dirty water is poured into the drum. The water seeps through a layer of sand, followed by a layer of charcoal, progressively removing impurities. Lastly, the layer of gravel at the bottom prevents the sand and charcoal from entering the pipe that transfers the purified water into the storage tank with the help of gravity. Once stored, a person can open the tank's tap to get drinking water.
