The bar graph illustrates the number of visitors to several of London’s museums in 2015.
Overall, August and September were the months when the influx of visitors to all the museums was the highest. The British Museum was generally the most visited; whereas, the National Museum consistently received the fewest visitors.
As seen in the chart, tourist numbers to the top three museums - namely the History Museum, British Museum, and Science Museum - were nearly the same at around 400,000 people in both June and July 2015. But in August, visitors to the British Museum and the History Museum jumped to 710,000 and 600,000 people, respectively. Said numbers, however, declined in the following months for both institutions. For the Science museum, the busiest month was in September, when there were 500,000 visitors. But similar to the British Museum and History Museum, visitors declined significantly in October.
As for the National Museum, its tourist numbers were considerably lower than the other three, although it did follow a similar visitor pattern. In June and July 2015, the National Museum averaged around 200,000 visitors, half that of the others. But in August, this increased by 50% to 300,000 visitors. The remaining two months saw the National Museum’s numbers return to their earlier figures.
