✍️ 参考范文

The line chart presents the percentage of world population under 5 years old and over 65 years old from 1950 with projections till 2040 while the table shows the changes in the proportions of population aged over 65 years old in six regions in 2030 and 2040.

According to the line chart, the percentage of the young population showed a downward trend from 30% in 1950 falling to around 12% in 2010. Afterwards, it is projected to remain steady till 2040. By contrast, the older population kept rising from 5% in 1950 to 15% in 2010. From 2030 onwards, it is likely that there will be more than 15 percent of citizens worldwide aged over 65, which is higher than the figure for the ones who are under 5.

According to the table, in 2030 western Europe will possibly have the highest percentage of aging population with 22%, followed by Asia with 18%. The gap between Latin America and North America will be widened two decades later. In 2040, western Europe will remain the top one with 26%. Latin America may witness a rapid increase by 10%, overtaking Asia by 5%. Sub-Sahara can be the only region that will experience a population decrease in size for the elderly.

Overall, the trend of expansion in aging population worldwide will be inevitable, with western Europe and Latin America contributing more to the growth in 2040.
